Most of the Jewish families lived in the so-called “Unterdorf” (lower village) in the Freudenstädter Straße, Bergstraße, Lichtenbergstraße and Kirchstraße. Some also lived near the synagogue, the Catholic church and the “Volksschule” (primary school). The entire area was also the domicile of Jewish stores, grocery stores, kosher butcheries and inns.A walk across the village with 16 selected stops provides you with an authentic impression of the former village life and its Catholic-Jewish neighborhood.Pass the synagogue, move all the way up to town hall, then go downhill on Bergstraße to the center of the village, finally climb uphill to the deciduous forest and the Jewish cemetery.Quite a few stolpersteine (“stumbling-stone”) along the path remember the time of cultural exclusion, persecution and extermination of the Jewish community.
